The University of Iowa Diagnostic Laboratory partners with TELCOR to expand their Outreach Business
TELCOR announced today that the University of Iowa has chosen TELCOR's Outreach Information System to consolidate and expand its Outreach Business. TELCOR is the only company that offers a complete, integrated approach from order entry and result reporting to billing and remittance.
The University of Iowa Diagnostic Laboratories (UIDL), which has provided outreach services to the region for more than 20 years, had outgrown its established processes and had become fragmented. Consequently this infrastructure did not allow them to grow and manage their outreach business, control billing and accounts receivable, collect statistics or provide consistent customer service and connectivity for clients.
"We want to be able to provide our clients with competitive tools to help them be efficient and stay compliant as well as have the internal resources to manage the administrative and financial side of our outreach business," said Glenn Elbert, Lab Manager, UIDL. TELCOR's Quick-Req®, Quick-Scan® and Quick-Results allow clients to submit clean, compliant requisitions, for the lab to receive specimens and requisitions, scan patient data via bar codes and submit results electronically to clients.
Many outreach laboratories struggle with billing because there have not been systems specifically developed for the outreach business. The UIDL was limited in its ability to determine specific test counts or review clinical or profitability information from their system. "We were pulling numbers from disparate sources and it was difficult to get an accurate idea of the number of specimens that were being tested, or of relevant statistical and financial data. We chose TELCOR because their complete system included, beyond the front-end tools, the Billing Information System as well as the Profitability and Compliance application," Elbert said.
The TELCOR Billing Information System eliminates compromises often required by billing applications designed for the hospital or practice management environments and provides tools that assist with sales and operational management. The Profitability and Compliance application is the only such application in the marketplace.
"The TELCOR business management products allow laboratories to grow the business with configurable client pricing, customized invoicing, have an accurate idea of where the business stands financially and monitor and manage overall and client-specific profitability," said Deb Larson, TELCOR Executive Vice President. "Our other outreach products provide marketable tools for outreach clients and reduce the number of required FTE's in the lab."
Having chosen TELCOR's complete Outreach Information System, UIDL will now have the tools available to meet the needs of their clients, and allow their outreach program to grow.
"We need to take control of the business side of the laboratory, grow it and prepare to handle our expansion. We chose TELCOR to help us accomplish these goals," Elbert said.
