Connectivity is Now Available at Point-of-Care for Dade Behring's Stratus® CS Diagnostic Instrument

Lincoln, Nebraska and Deerfield, Illinois May 23, 2003 - TELCOR Inc and Dade Behring Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: DADE) announced today that they are offering a connectivity solution for the Stratus ® CS analyzer in acute care diagnostic environments via a strategic partnership with TELCOR Inc.

"The availability of a connectivity solution in the acute care environment will be an extremely valuable feature for the emergency department team using the Stratus CS instrument," said Debbie Whitehair, Marketing Manager, Dade Behring. "Connectivity eliminates the necessity to manually input test results in an environment where every minute is critical, and where patient test results can lead to lifesaving treatment." The connectivity software automatically inputs patient test results into the patient record file, ensuring that required data is captured for electronic medical record and billing files.

"These types of incremental innovations ar ethe progressive steps that the medical team needs and wants in the intense acute care setting," said Jim Reid-Anderson, Chairman, President and CEO, Dade Behring. "We are committed to helping our customers improve their ability to deliver the highest quality results in an environment where resources - time, staff and funds - are limited. Connectivity will allow for more effective handling of data."

The time saving and cost-controlling advantages of connectivity on the Stratus CS include:

  • Automated entry of test results into the Laboratory Information System obtained in the emergency department; without connectivity, tests must be mannually input.
  • Inclusion of critical results in the hospital's central databases, including time and date, operator and patient identification numbers, and test reults.
  • Accurate and on time delivery of result data for billing.

Dade Behring selected TELCOR's Quick-Linc interface management tool for its connectivity solution.

"The Quick-Linc Point of Care Testing (POCT) Interface Management tool rapidly integrates point of care testing results into the Laboratory Information System where it can bhen be made available for billing and within electronic medical record systems, which are critical to the most appropriate treatment of the patient," said Mitch Fry, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, TELCOR. "Quick-Linc combined with Stratus CS provides Dade's customers the benefits of automated result integration and is the only tool now available that also can be upgraded to integrate other disparate POCT devices preserving the hostpials investment."
