Jim Terrano Awarded Nebraska Distinguished
Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Lincoln, Nebraska – April 12, 2010 –Jim Terrano, TELCOR’s President and CEO, was inducted into the Nebraska Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame at an awards reception on Thursday, April 8, 2010.  In addition to this honor, he was awarded a 2010 Nebraska Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year Award.  The Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship's Nebraska Distinguished Entrepreneur Award recognizes entrepreneurs in the state of Nebraska who represent the ideals of Nebraska small business ownership.

“Lincoln has been a terrific place to build a company.  It is really a family oriented place with a strong Midwest work ethic,” said Terrano.  “We have extremely low employee turnover, which leads to quality and consistency in the products we build.  TELCOR’s success is directly attributable to its strong commitment to its customers, products and employees.  The company is able to focus on the long term due to its ongoing profitability and no outside investors.”

With more than 35 years experience in data processing, health care and management, Terrano possesses a unique skill set that combines private and public company management, systems and product design, as well as organization and staff development.  After working for Honeywell Aerospace as a project manager, Terrano was recruited to become part of a west coast hospital systems startup later acquired by American Hospital Supply Corporation.  From there, he started his first company and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1976 to develop the first hospital-wide information system for Bryan Hospital.  That system became the Shared Medical Systems Allegra system, which was later sold worldwide to more than 1,500 health care organizations.  The same startup evolved into a publicly traded company that developed a wide range of hospital systems with a product focus on the Clinical Laboratory.

In 1995, Terrano started TELCOR with Deb Larson and Rebekah Clarke, and he currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer, with primary responsibilities for strategic direction, systems concept, vision and business plan execution.  Under Terrano’s leadership and guidance, TELCOR has continued to grow and thrive in the healthcare informatics market, and this growth has resulted in a 53% increase in employees over the last two years, despite the recent economic downturn.
